Frequently Asked Questions

How does Truemed work?

If Truemed determines that fitness can help prevent or reverse a health condition you care about (making it eligible for HSA/FSA), they will send you a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). In our experience, given the breadth of preventative and therapeutic benefits of sauna and cold plunge, this usage has typically qualified—though that determination will be up to the discretion of Truemed’s medical professionals.

Once you are approved, just submit your future receipts and LMN to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. You can also shift payments to your HSA card. Truemed guarantees reimbursement once qualified; they will send instructions to get reimbursed and their customer support team will be available to assist.

What do I need to do?

Complete a brief 2 minute Truemed survey to share your medical history, family history, and any current medical conditions. This information helps TrueMed doctors assess what services—like Framework—are medically necessary.

What does it cost?

The Letter of Medical Necessity will be a one-time, $30 charge you pay to Truemed at the conclusion of the short survey outlined above. This will be paid back on-average with just $100 of spending at Framework. If you’re sessions are unable to be approved, customers are typically refunded their one-time, $30 charge.

How much money will I save?

When we say customers can save 30%-40%, that is the amount they save by reimbursing themselves with tax-free HSA/FSA funds. Their savings are equal to their income tax rate.

How do I pay with an HSA card?

Customers have asked if they can pay Framework directly with their HSA card after getting approved by Truemed. In most cases, the answer is yes. You can try switching to your HSA card as your payment method once your receive your LMN from Truemed—this is the easiest route, because you won't need to take any other action after switching your card. If your card is rejected (which is at the HSA administrator's discretion), you can keep your regular credit card as your payment and manually get reimbursed following these instructions. Note: if you have an FSA account, you must use your regular credit card and manually get reimbursed—FSA cards are almost always rejected (instructions here).

Do I need to change how I pay Framework?

No, as above, it’s not required—though you may find it easier, when possible, to use your HSA card directly. If that doesn’t work, Truemed enables you to be reimbursed for your payments to Framework with HSA/FSA funds—and you simply need to do that once per calendar year. There are instructions for how to do that here.
